The Book of DieselThe Light Before the Gospel
Book XVI · The Council Beneath the Star

61:5

“Gold was chosen first—not as tribute to a throne, but as road money should a threatened family need distance. Frankincense would remember that prayer rose beyond every messenger. Myrrh would confess that goodness entering a violent world might be wounded before it was understood.”

BEHIND THIS SCENE

What is history and what is fiction?

Canonical anchor + political context + sacred fictionMatthew supplies the Magi, Herod, Jerusalem, the star, gifts, warning, and alternate road. The council and its theology are the novel’s reconstruction.

Historical anchor

Matthew 2 places Magi from the east in the political world of Herod. Iranian priestly traditions, Parthian power, eastern-western travel, and celestial interpretation provide the historical frame; the council itself is fictional.

Fiction boundary

The seven-year watch, failed-sign archive, private debate, gift meanings, and decision to establish a continuing protection road are modern sacred-historical fiction.
